The story is based on Governor William Bradford s own account as recorded in his epic volume, Of Plimoth Plantation, over a period of thirty years beginning with the exodus from England, the Pilgrims life during the stay in Holland, and finally the harrowing Mayflower voyage and the establishment of the Plymouth Colony in 1620.
