Handmade puzzles were quite common in early America. Puzzles were crafted out of scraps of materials, a piece of wood, some string or cord, buttons or beads. the puzzles themselves were quite easy to make, but often difficult to solve. The object of this puzzle is to remove the sting and wooden ring from the puzzle without untying the knots in the string.
