Heirloom Seeds

Heirloom Seeds

$ 3.00

Heirloom plants hold both historic and genetic significance. They connect us to the generation who saved the seeds in the past. You can improve and adapt the strain with each planting cycle because these varieties are open-pollinated. Save seeds from your earliest or most flavorful produce, the sweetest flower, or the plant best adapted to the conditions of your own backyard.

To the Native People of New England, plants satisfied both physical and spiritual needs. Planting seeds native to your region helps to revive the natural landscape and allows you to grow the plants best suited to the conditions of your area. Plant them in settings similar to those where you have seen them thrive in the wild and according to the cultivation notes.

Kitchen Garden Herbs are a selection of plants found in 17th-century kitchen gardens. In the time of the Pilgrims, the term herb referred to nearly any plant growing in traditional raised bed gardens. Categories of herbs included: sallet herbs, root herbs, sweet herbs, medicinal/physic herbs, and pot/culinary herbs. Our collection includes seeds for cooking, medicine, fragrance, dyes and teas.
