By Karen Rinaldo and Kevin M. Doyle

In the Wake of the Mayflower is the story about life after the Mayflower arrival from  The First Encounter through the 50 years of peace that ended with King Philip’s War. It highlights the mutual dependent relationship between the Pilgrims and the indigenous Wampanoags that is documented in the painting by Rinaldo of The First Thanksgiving, 1621.

Ms. Rinaldo is a visual historian whose work has been exhibited at Plimoth Plantation.  Kevin M. Doyle is a writer and lecturer on historic places and events.

In the Wake of the Mayflower is written in a vignette style. It was inspired by The First Thanksgiving, 1621 painting. A section in the book is devoted to the 15 Cape Cod towns with history of each.
