Plimoth Grist Mill Heritage Whole Wheat Flour
Plimoth Grist Mill is proud to introduce locally grown, Heritage Red Lammas Whole Wheat Flour to our family of stone-ground grain products. Red Lammas is a very old variety (pre-1700) that was brought to the new World in the 1600's. It is very similar to the wheat that was grown in early New England.
Our Red Lammas is grown at Lazy Acres Farm in North Hadley, MA.
Milled from hard red wheat berries which have a relatively high protein count, Red Lammas Whole Wheat Flour is especially good for yeast baking. For brownies, cookies and other baked goods, some bakers prefer to use a combination of our whole wheat flour (for taste) and white or wheat pastry flour (for tenderness).
Our whole wheat flour is made up of 100% of the grain - nothing has been removed. Because the bran and germ are retained, the flour has an excellent, robust flavor and maximum nutritional value.
