Between Boston and Cape Cod is a certain stretch of coastline that rolls along quaint, small towns, separating them from the deep and moody Atlantic Ocean. From Quincy to Plymouth, the South Shore unfolds along Massachusetts Bay with an unimaginable beauty that has inspired artists and writers since they first stepped off the Mayflower in 1620. Calm creeks meander through saltmarshes of green and gold, roaring waves pound jagged granite, and centuries-old barns hold tight to their secrets. It is all part of an incredible orchestra that plays some of New England s greatest melodies. Photographer Ralph Granata has captured the essence of the exquisite South Shore of Boston, the Bay State s hidden treasure.
