After many fruitless attempts to replicate the pure white used in Chinese porcelain, in the early 1600s, Holland became the first European country to eventually discover that the addition of tin would produce ceramics with a true white background. That discovery occurred in Delft — a town in the Netherlands. We know from inventories taken at their deaths, several of the Pilgrims owned delft dishes.
Hand-painted in traditional blue and white, with little heart-shaped cutouts, this Delft Candy Dish adds a fresh and cheerful touch to your home and makes a nice gift.
