A joint effort between the Duxbury Rural and Historical Society and the Duxbury Garden Club, Old Colony Wildflowers is a sampling of wild plants found in an historic area of southeastern Massachusetts. Although each selected plant is identified by its common and scientific name, the book is not intended as a field guide. Instead, the collection is presented within a time frame, as described in records and documents of the "Old Colony." The book provides delightful descriptions, historical anecdotes and stunning color photographs of over 65 flowers, bushes and trees found in the Old Colony area. Readers will also find a resource section which includes a bibliography; historical lists; wildflower gardening and restoration information; environmental teaching materials; conservation areas and an index.
