Leather Shive Beaker

Leather Shive Beaker

$ 45.00

Drinking vessels made from leather have been in use since the early medieval period. They were (and are) considered practical, durable, and do the job of holding beverages well. Plus, they look cool.

Relive a bygone era with this unique Leather Shive Beaker. Full grain cowhide leather is stitched by hand and mounted on an ale cask shive to create these beautifully handcrafted drinking vessels.

Historically, leather drinking vessels were lined with boiled birch tree sap to make them watertight. Echoing this traditional technique and retaining the look of pitch, these cups have been modernized with a certified food-safe resin lining.

A great gift for beer and ale enthusiasts or your third wedding anniversary!

  • Holds approximately half a pint of your favorite beer, ale, wine, cider, water or any cold/room temperature beverage you like.
  • To clean, rinse the inside with cold water. The outer leather can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Do not submerge your beaker in water or put in the dishwasher.
