17th Century Silk Threads Kit

17th Century Silk Threads Kit

$ 33.95

In November 2006, Plimoth Patuxet began an ambitious project to re-create a woman’s embroidered waistcoat of the early 1600’s. Many of the garment’s shimmering threads and spangles were brought back into production for the first time in hundreds of years. We are happy to be able to offer this custom embroidery kit using the exact silk thread palette used for this important jacket. The packet includes nine spools of silk thread and nine gold sequin embellishments. Please note, kit does not include a pattern.

lovely silks, but more information appreciated

I bought these silks with the intention of making a small scale reproduction of this jacket (the Plimoth reproduction was a wonderful project that I could only dream of being involved in), and the silks will do that beautifully. Too few spangles to really work with, but they do give you a good idea of what these gold spangles were. My only disappointment was that there was no information about the jacket, or other illustrations other than the very good photo that accompanied the packet. A note about the stitches used, the history of the jacket, etc. would have been most appreciated.
