Sliptrail Pitcher

Description

These pitchers begin as simple red clay pitchers and are transformed with the addition of a free-hand design in light-colored slip, a liquid clay. Almost like decorating a cake, a small container filled with slip is used to decorate the plain pitcher. After glazing and firing the true beauty of the design is seen. Handmade by a member of our Interpretative Artisans Program in the Crafts Center here at Plimoth Patuxet, each pitcher is slightly different and may vary in design.

A real charmer

I have always enjoyed the organic nature of wheel thrown pottery. This little treasure is not only nice to look at among my other pieces of pottery but it tells a lovely story about my Pilgrim ancestors.. I'm really proud to have it!
